Meet the Pigs! A Little Homestead Update from Ruth

Hello dear quilting friends,

This week’s post has a little less thread and a little more mud—because we have pigs! Yes, real ones! Two young pigs have joined our homestead, and I just had to share this little life update with you.

Now, don’t worry—this blog is still all about quilting. But every now and then, I like to pull back the curtain and share a little more about my life outside the sewing room. So here’s a peek into the other part of my world.

After my husband and I moved from Utah to Indiana a few years back, we eventually found a beautiful piece of land to call our own. We built our house right on it, surrounded by trees and open skies, and little by little we’ve been turning it into a small homestead.

It started with a garden (as it usually does!), then came the chickens. And now—we’ve added two energetic, curious, and slightly mischievous pigs to the mix. They’ve already found their favorite muddy spots and are happily rooting around like they own the place. It’s been such a fun new adventure.

There’s something about tending the land and caring for animals that feels a lot like quilting—it takes patience, planning, and love. And just like quilting, homesteading has its surprises… and the occasional mess!

So, while this blog will always be focused on patterns, stitching tips, and creative inspiration, I hope you won’t mind the occasional post about pigs or peonies. Life is full of different threads, after all—and it’s all stitched together in the end.

Thanks for being part of both my quilting and homesteading journey. Whether you’re here for the fabric, the chickens, or just the stories, I’m glad you’re along for the ride.

With love, mud, and happy stitching,
Ruth
